I used to call the Wynns Cab Sav “Old faithful”. If I was having one of those indecisive days where I couldn’t decide what to open I always knew this wine would deliver a solid performance.
When I drink a Coonawarra Cab Sav I like to be able to taste the red earth the grapes have grown up in. Alas there is no red earth anymore.
The 2006 has been a real let down. Missing the body of the previous vintages its not surprising to discover they now produce over 40,000 cases per annum (that’s just shy of half a million bottles).
Since being taken over by Fosters there has been a big increase in volume of production and a decrease in quality.
Goodbye old faithful.
