Golden Grape Estate Cabernet Sauvignon I plucked this bottle out of my stash the other night because I needed something to throw into a sauce. A friend of a friend of a friend had brought it over a couple of years ago and I remember at the time thinking it might not quite be drinkable!
For starters, I don’t know why people try selling Cab Sav from the Hunter Valley. If your going wine tasting in the Hunter, do yourself a favour and stick to their Semillon, Shiraz, Port or Dessert varieties.  Its really not worth wasting your time on anything else!

As for the Golden Grape, before I threw it into the sauce I thought a small tasting was in order.

I will concede that the wine is now 5 years old and perhaps not in the prime of its life, but one would have hoped that it would have held up … alas it tasted like watered down cordial.

I wouldn’t even cook with this one!

In Summary ...
Vintage: 2003
Variety:
Region: Hunter Valley (NSW)
Rating:
Verdict: I wouldn''t even cook with it!
